We are the union voice for the frontline staff who make Rest Haven a place of dignity, respect, and high-quality care. As members of CUPE Local 5556, our Resident Assistants and members of Daily Life work together to protect residents’ wellbeing, improve working conditions, and make sure staff are respected, supported and fairly compensated.
Our Mission:
To advance safe, sustainable, and person-centred long-term care by:
- Defending fair wages, benefits and job security for our members
- Promoting safe staffing levels and humane working conditions
- Building partnerships with families and the community to put residents first
- Provide training, resources, and a strong voice at the bargaining table
What we do for our members and residents:
- Negotiate collective agreements that protect staff and services.
- Advocate for safe staffing, improved resident care and workplace safety
- Offer support, representation and professional development for members.
- Work with community partners and families to improve quality of life for residents
